A 7-Year Bitcoin Whale Makes a Shocking Move: Sells BTC to Buy Ethereum

According to Cointelegraph, a massive Bitcoin whale who had held their assets for over seven years recently sold 670 BTC, valued at $76 million, to purchase 68,130 ETH. This whale previously held 14,837 Bitcoin, worth more than $1.6 billion, acquired from exchanges like Binance and HTX in previous years.

The trader opened leveraged positions with 10x and 3x leverage around the $4,300 price range, but a drop in Ethereum’s price to $4,080 put three of those positions at risk of liquidation. This occurred even as other whales were reportedly offloading large amounts of Ethereum.

At the same time, institutional players and companies such as BitMine have been acquiring significant amounts of the cryptocurrency. Reports also indicate that several long-dormant Bitcoin whales have recently moved their assets after years of inactivity.

Analysts believe that the sales by long-term whales do not pose a serious threat to the market. Instead, the influx of new buyers is seen as a sign of increasing maturity in the cryptocurrency market.
