The Flippening Is Coming: Ethereum Will Soon Dethrone Bitcoin, Claims Major Report

Ethereum overtakes Bitcoin

A new analysis by Trend Research, an institution affiliated with LD Capital, predicts that “The Flippening”—the moment Ethereum’s market capitalization surpasses Bitcoin’s—could happen within the next one to two market cycles.

According to a report covered by BeInCrypto, this monumental shift, often dubbed “The Flippening,” could occur within the next one to two market cycles. The research highlights a surge in institutional adoption, with corporations and ETFs having already amassed nearly $20 billion in Ethereum, equivalent to 3.39% of its total supply.

What sets Ethereum apart, the report argues, is its unique value proposition beyond mere scarcity. Unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum generates a native yield of 1.5% to 5% annually through staking and its vibrant Decentralized Finance (DeFi) ecosystem, creating a compelling case for long-term investors.

The supply and demand dynamics are also tilting heavily in Ethereum’s favor. Following the anticipated Pectra upgrade in May 2025, the daily withdrawal limit from staking will be capped at just 57,600 ETH. This figure is dwarfed by the current rate of institutional capital inflow.

From a technical analysis standpoint, Trend Research projects that the price of Ethereum will fluctuate between $4,350 and $4,950 in the short term. However, in a more bullish scenario, analysts believe ETH could surge to a target of $10,000 to $12,000 by the end of the year.

Analysts conclude that a perfect storm of soaring institutional demand, expanding utility in stablecoins and DeFi, and favorable macroeconomic conditions is weakening Bitcoin’s dominance. This convergence is setting the stage for Ethereum to emerge as the market’s leading digital asset.
